Virtual Colonography
Virtual Colonoscopy is the use of computerized tomography to generate 3D images of the colon.
Virtual colonoscopy can replace traditional colonoscopies as a screening tool and can be performed for patients who cannot tolerate colonoscopies or who have an incomplete colonoscopy. The main use of a virtual colonoscopy is to screen for polyps or cancers in the large intestine. The American Cancer Society recommends that people undergo screenings for colon cancer beginning at the age of 50.
